Valentinian Theology
The Father
Valentinus and his followers believed that God, the supreme Father is "uncontained, incomprehensible and cannot be seen or heard" (Against Heresies 1:2:5). Therefore he defies accurate description. He is infinite, without beginning or end and is the ultimate origin of all things. He encompasses all things without being encompassed (Ep5:3, Gospel of Truth 18:34, Valentinian Exposition 22:27-28, Against Heresies 2:2:2). Everything including the world lies within the Father and continues to be part of him.

PROLOGUE
We, the forty- two Judges of Karma, exhort the Gnostic people to be united in these moments in which humanity is found at the crossroads of ‘To be or not to be.” We speak, reunited in full council with the just authorization of Yew, Patriarch of the Supreme Hierarchy, and the whole White Fraternity to which we belong.

The Hypostasis of the Archons
(The Reality of the Rulers)
Translated by Bentley Layton
On account of the reality of the authorities, (inspired) by the spirit of the father of truth, the great apostle – referring to the "authorities of the darkness" – told us that "our contest is not against flesh and blood; rather, the authorities of the universe and the spirits of wickedness." I have sent this (to you) because you inquire about the reality of the authorities.

Introduction
We have as yet no true critical edition of this book: one is in preparation, by E. von Dobschutz, to be included in the Berlin corpus of Greek Ante-Nicene Christian writers. A short statement of the authorities available at this moment is therefore necessary.

Second Clement
2 Clement
SECOND CLEMENT
(2 Clement) Translated by J.B. Lightfoot.
2Clem 1:1
Brethren, we ought so to think of Jesus Christ, as of God, as of the Judge of quick and dead.
2Clem 1:2
And we ought not to think mean things of our Salvation: for when we think mean things of Him, we expect also to receive mean things. And they that listen as concerning mean things do wrong; and we ourselves do wrong, not knowing whence and by whom and unto what place we were called, and how many things Jesus Christ endured to suffer for our sakes.
The Gospel of Barnabas
Gospel of Barnabas
trans. Lonsdale and Laura Ragg [London, 1907] The Gospel of Barnabas is an apocryphal gospel. That is, it is a life of Jesus purportedly written by a first-hand observer that is at variance with the picture(s) presented in the Bible. However, it is unique among apocrypha in that it is a Muslim gospel; that is, it presents Jesus as a human prophet, not the son of God, and as a forerunner of Muhammad.
The Epistle of Barnabas
THE EPISTLE OF BARNABAS
Translated by J.B. Lightfoot.
Barnabas 1:1
I Bid you greeting, sons and daughters, in the name of the Lord that
loved us, in peace.
Barnabas 1:2
Seeing that the ordinances of God are great and rich unto you, I
rejoice with an exceeding great and overflowing joy at your blessed
and glorious spirits; so innate is the grace of the spiritual gift
that ye have received.
