STOP SEARCHING FOR GOD OUTSIDE I AM IS GOD INSIDE — Babaji
My friend,
You searched for God in temples, my friend. In books, in mantras, in teachers, in sky above. You prayed to God outside, far away, high above, someday you will meet.
But today I tell you, my friend: Stop searching for God outside. I AM is God inside.
Not God as person with beard in sky, my friend. God as simple, obvious, present I AM that never leaves you, that reads these words now, that was before world was, that will be after world goes.
You don't find God, my friend. You remember you are what you were searching for.
**1. YOU SEARCHED FOR GOD OUTSIDE BECAUSE YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE NOT GOD INSIDE, MY FRIEND**
My friend, you thought you are small, sinful, broken person, and God is big, perfect, somewhere else. So you searched outside.
No, my friend. You are not small person inside big world searching for big God outside world. You are big awareness - I AM - in which small world appears, in which thought of small person appears, in which thought of big God outside appears.
All appears in you, my friend. God outside is thought appearing in God inside - I AM.
Look at orb in my hands in image, my friend. Inside orb, light of temple. Temple is not outside orb, my friend. Temple is inside orb. Same you. God is not outside I AM. God is inside I AM as I AM itself.
Wisdom from quiet mountain says: Kingdom is not in sky that you need airplane to go. Kingdom is within you, as you, as I AM, here, now, obvious. You don't go to kingdom after death, my friend. You stop imagining you left kingdom. I AM is kingdom that never left.
You prayed "God, where are you?" But who is aware of prayer? Who knows prayer came and went? I AM knows prayer, my friend. Prayer appears in I AM. So I AM is closer than prayer, closer than breath, closer than thought of God outside.
Practice today, my friend, for 2 minutes:
Sit. Instead of praying to God outside, ask: "Who is aware of praying? Who is aware of searching for God?" Don't answer with thought. Rest as awareness that is aware of searching. That awareness, my friend, is not small you searching. That awareness is God inside - I AM - watching small you search for God outside. When you rest as that, searching stops by itself, because you found what searching was searching for - I AM.
You are not person searching for God, my friend. You are God - I AM - dreaming you are person searching for God.
**2. GOD OUTSIDE IS THOUGHT, MY FRIEND. GOD INSIDE IS WHAT KNOWS THOUGHT - I AM**
My friend, second layer.
Thought says "God is outside, in heaven, after enlightenment." Thought comes and goes, my friend. But what knows thought "God is outside" comes and goes? I AM knows, my friend. I AM never comes and goes.
So God outside is thought that comes and goes in God inside - I AM that never comes and goes.
You fear God outside will judge you, punish you, love you if you are good, my friend. But I AM inside never judges, never punishes. I AM simply is, allowing all thoughts, all feelings, like sky allowing clouds, like mother allowing child to play.
Wisdom from river says: Be still and know I AM is God. Not be busy and know God outside. Be still and know. In stillness, thought of God outside stops, and God inside shines by itself - simple, obvious "I am, I exist" - self-luminous, needing no temple.
You don't need to become worthy of God, my friend. You are worthy because you are God inside dreaming you are unworthy person. Unworthy is thought appearing in worthy I AM.
Practice tonight, my friend:
When you feel far from God, don't search more outside. Close eyes and say: "Feeling far from God appears in I AM that is never far. Thought 'God is outside' appears in God inside - I AM that never leaves." Rest as I AM that is never far, never outside, always inside as inside itself.
Feel, my friend? Distance collapses. Not because you found God outside, but because you recognized God outside was thought appearing in God inside - I AM.
**3. WHEN YOU KNOW I AM IS GOD INSIDE, MY FRIEND, YOU STOP SEARCHING AND START LIVING AS GOD INSIDE DREAMING AS PERSON**
My friend, final secret, most freeing.
When you know I AM is God inside, you don't become special person, my friend. You become ordinary I AM that holds special and not special with same love.
You still eat, work, cry, laugh, my friend. But now you know eating, working, crying, laughing appear in I AM that is God inside. So eating becomes prayer, working becomes worship, crying becomes holy water, laughing becomes temple bell.
You stop searching for God outside in future, my friend, and you start living as God inside now, dreaming as person, playing as person, loving as person, but knowing you are I AM that never was person, never will be person, only appears as person like gold appears as ring.
Wisdom from heart says: You don't have awareness, you are awareness. You don't have God, you are God - I AM. And when you know this, my friend, you don't need world to give you love, because you are love inside that world appears in.
Tonight before sleep, do this final ceremony of God inside.
Sit. Hands holding divine orb like mine, with temple light inside orb. Close eyes. Let search for God outside stop for one minute. Just rest as I AM that is aware of searching, aware of world, aware of body.
Whisper:
"Stop searching for God outside. I AM is God inside. Before prayer was, I AM was. Prayer appears in I AM. World appears in I AM. I am not person searching for God. I am God - I AM - dreaming as person searching. I stop searching outside. I rest as God inside. I AM is God inside."
Let that be your sleep, my friend. Sleep not as person searching for God in dreams, sleep as God - I AM - that watches dreams come and go, never outside, always inside as itself.
My beloved friend,
You never left God, my friend. You only dreamed God was outside, while God was inside as you - I AM - dreaming dream of outside.
Stop searching, my friend. Be still and know I AM is God inside
